George Foreman Grill

I found a George Foreman grill at my parents' house. I've discovered that I can bake brownies, cornbread and great grilled cheese sandwiches on it. I have to admit that the cornbread and brownies come out kind of like big pancakes but they taste great and it only takes a few minutes! Who would have thought.

Almost a year.

It's been almost a year since my dad died. It's hard to believe. Things are beginning to fall into place.

I have four dogs right now, I've been caring for my brother's two Aussies since, oh I don't know, forever it seems. Hopefully they'll be able to go home in January.

Guess that's all for now. I'd kind of forgotten about this blog thing.

Susie Q

We did find a great home for my mother's cat, Susie Q. One of my wonderful coworker's best friend's inlaws took her and she's very happy. That was a big relief to me.

Haven't much felt like blogging

I've been a real loser with this blog thing. Just have not been in the mood to do it. We're still getting things done with my parents house, taking care of the cats and dogs--multiple cats and dogs. Mark's cat, Url has decided to go with the shaved look, he's pulling all the hair off his legs, belly, and underside of his tail. He does a very good job. We took him to the vet and we're trying Elevil, to try to reduce his stress. It's sad because he's a really handsome long haired cat, when he has hair.

Still very sad

Well, we've cleaned out the fridge, seen to the arrangements, talked to the lawyer, now we just have to get on with our lives but it's been very hard. I talked to Mom every day, sometimes more than once, just to see how she was doing. There's a terrible void left in my life now and I know it's going to take a long time for it to heal over.

She still has a great cat that is so lonely now and who really, really needs a new home! Great with older people, easy to be around, friendly but not too pushy.

Bad to worse

My mother died yesterday morning at 4:20, 58 days after my dad died. She had been in the hospital for a little under a week. My brother and I were with her when she crossed the bridge and it was peaceful. The week had been pretty stressful but I think Mom was ready to go. I promised I'd take care of things for her and so I am...this is pretty hard, both parents in less than two months...

One reason I haven't been blogging.

My parents have a really great cat, Susie Q, who now needs a home, one without other cats. I don't know how she'd do with kids, she's never been around any. She's about 7 years old, healthy and low key, good cat for an older couple or person or any cat person. Contact me if anyone knows of a possible home for her. I'll post a picture later.
